Kendall Depot

Official Headquarters

Built in 1900, this building was the original Chicago & Northwestern Railway Depot. In 1964, the Department of Natural Resources restored the Depot and it now houses the Official Headquarters for the 32 mile Elroy-Sparta State Bike Trail, the renowned first rail-to-trail in the world!
Here you can find a Railroad History Museum with authentic photos, artifacts, and pieces of history from what was once a thriving railroad. Also available are state trail passes, shuttle service, concessions, apparel and souvenirs. Come see us at the Depot to experience a historical part of the first rail-to-trail in the world!

Wisconsin state trail pass fees are the same for residents and non-residents. The annual pass is good for the calendar year and the daily pass is good for the day of purchase. A state trail pass is issued to the person and is non-transferable, meaning that it cannot be passed from person to person or shared with others. The state trail pass must be filled out to be valid.
